Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this research was to predict problem solving skills based on critical thinking and self-discipline in female students of the second year of secondary school in Malair city.

Methods: The descriptive research method was of the correlational type and the statistical population included all female students of the second secondary school in Malair city in the academic year of 1402-1403 with a population equal to 5350 people. The sample size was estimated to be 356 people using the Karjesi and Morgan table, and the statistical samples were selected using a simple cluster-random method. In order to collect information, three standard questionnaires of problem solving skills Cassidy and Long (1996), Ricketts' critical thinking (2003) and self-discipline were used.

Results: The results obtained from measuring the research hypotheses using multiple linear regression test and Pearson correlation coefficient and using SPSS version 28 software showed that in a regression model, both variables of critical thinking and self-discipline have an effect on the problem solving skills of female students. had an effect and both predictive factors were positive and moderate (P<0.05). However, in examining the individual relationship of each of the two predictor variables with the variable of problem solving skills, it was also determined that both critical thinking and self-regulation have a strong relationship with problem solving skills separately (P<0.05).

Conclusion: According to the results of this research, it seems useful to use ways to strengthen students' critical thinking and self-discipline to increase their problem-solving skills.
