Investigating the role of spirituality in mental health with an emphasis on religious education

Abstract
Spiritual health is one of the fundamental dimensions of health and well-being and is a coordinating and complementary force of health dimensions (mental, physical, social and spiritual dimensions).

The present study is a systematic review study of the role of spirituality in mental health with an emphasis on religious education. In its compilation, internet searches using search engines and in reputable databases including Google scholar, SID, direct Science and library studies in scientific books and articles were used. Possible combinations of the main keywords health, spiritual health, religious education were used for the search



Findings: Based on the study of the articles, concepts such as: feelings of loving and being loved, helping others, experiencing pleasure, having a basic purpose in life, experiencing perfection and peace in life were identified and categorized.

Conclusion: Spiritual health causes inner peace and a sense of comfort, and when spiritual health is compromised, a person suffers from mental disorders such as depression and loses the meaning and significance of life. Spiritual experience, religious beliefs, and religious practices have a positive and significant impact on health. Because spiritual health is a purposeful and meaningful state of human life that results from an individual's belief in the infinite power of God and a dynamic relationship with oneself, others, and the world around them, which leads to the creation of hope and satisfaction. Therefore, spiritual health leads to the stability of individuals when dealing with crises.
