Abstract
Leaderboard is one of the important elements of gamification. Leaderboards take advantage of students' competitive spirit and act as a powerful interaction tool and encourage students to be active. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of using Leaderboards on increasing students' classroom activities and also their interest in learning mathematics. This research was done in a descriptive way. The statistical population of this research was the 8th grade students of the first secondary schools of Alborz province and the sample was 30 eighth grade students of one of the first secondary schools in Karaj city in the academic year of 1402-1403, who were selected by available sampling method. The first and second chapters of the 8th grade math book were taught in the usual way. In the teaching of the third and fourth chapters of the book, Leaderboards were used in order to solve exercises and assignments in groups. The data of this research were collected through observation and interview with students. The results obtained from the data analysis showed that the use of scoreboards in the process of teaching mathematics increases students' interest in class activities and has a positive effect on improving the learning of mathematics lessons.
